A Love Story Carved in Ice: A Helicopter Wedding at Alaska Backcountry Cottages

by | Oct 23, 2023

In the heart of the Last Frontier, where rugged wilderness meets boundless romance, Alaska Backcountry Cottages played host to a love story like no other.

On a crisp Alaskan morning, a daring couple, Cecilia and Jeff Fugitt, ventured to our property with an extraordinary dream – to exchange their vows on the Knik Glacier. With a helicopter as their chariot and the pristine Alaskan wilderness as their witness, their love story was etched into the icy fabric of this wild paradise.

Under the starry Alaskan sky, Cecilia and Jeff truly enjoyed their stay in the Forget-Me-Not Cottage, a stand-alone, full-service cottage, with all the amenities needed to feel at home.

Cecilia and Jeff Fugitt are from Gulf Shores, Alabama, basically Pensacola, Florida. They’ve been together for almost 3 years but have known each other for almost 22. Cecilia and Jeff declared their love for each other on Friday 13th, so they kept tradition and married on another Friday 13th!

Cecilia asked, “How about we get married on a glacier in Alaska?” Amazingly enough, Jeff said it was perfect.

Cecilia has traveled to 23 different countries and Jeff’s been on several cruises. This Alaskan adventure is the first in their world trek. Every 2 years they’ll be going to a different amazing destination. Once they’re too old to lug their suitcases around, they’ll go on cruises. They plan to never stop traveling in their lifetimes ❤️

I had so much fun following this couple’s adventure! May their love, as timeless and everlasting as the glaciers themselves, continue to grow and flourish in the beautiful journey of their married life.

Fantastic!

What a great place! Everything you need and very well designed. Great amount of counter space 👌. The views out the front window and deck are fantastic. – Mike H.

Highly Recommended!

This place is wonderful! The view of the mountain range is excellent and the spot is secluded if your looking to wind down. Highly recommended if you are wanting to adventure in the Palmer-Wasilla area. The cottage was clean and the bed was comfortable. The owner left milk, a few eggs, coffee, oatmeal and snacks for us. It was a nice surprise. – Courtney D.
