Leaves are Greening in Alaska!

spring buds in Alaska

Alaska is so wonderful in the spring! As it’s getting warmer and lighter, the land seems energized! Last week I wrote about the first sign of spring, pussy willows, and this week I’m seeing the buds pop out!Β  I stopped on the road to Alaska Backcountry Cottages and my friend hopped out of the car to snap a picture of the leaf buds!

We’re gaining minutes of light every day! Today It will begin to darken at 11:26 pm and in the morning, dawn will be at 4:15am. Summer Solstice, the longest/lightest day of the year is Sunday, June 20th. Such light really speeds up the growing process!

Alaska Rental Cottages

You can see for yourself at Alaska Backcountry Cottages where we offer two cottage styles – with and without a loft. Both styles are stand-alone, full-service, cottages, with all the amenities needed to feel at home. Our smaller cottages, house four guests with two queen size beds, and the larger cottages have three queen size beds with a maximum capacity of six.

Last year I noticed how fast the leaves grew in, but I didn’t document it!Β  This year I have the dates written down!Β  I snapped pictures of the pussy willows on April 28, 2021 and now a week later, the pictures of the buds were taken on May 6, 2021.Β  We’ll see how long it takes for the leaves to be green and full grown!

I look forward to taking more pictures to prove it then!!

Highly Recommended!

This place is wonderful! The view of the mountain range is excellent and the spot is secluded if your looking to wind down. Highly recommended if you are wanting to adventure in the Palmer-Wasilla area. The cottage was clean and the bed was comfortable. The owner left milk, a few eggs, coffee, oatmeal and snacks for us. It was a nice surprise. – Courtney D.
